What is a Community Acupuncture Clinic?
A Community Acupuncture (CA) clinic is a social model of delivery for acupuncture which strives to increase access by offering treatments in a comfortable group setting at an affordable price. The purpose is to offer the opportunity to receive treatments more frequently so that optimal results can be see quicker. A CA clinic is part of a nation-wide movement to provide everyone access to this simple, yet highly effective treatment. Everything from pain and illness to general well-being can be treated with acupuncture.
Treatments are performed in a relaxing community room in comfortable zero-gravity recliners. For the first-time patient of acupuncture, the initial intake takes about 10-15 minutes. For return patients the intake is very brief. Needles are inserted using points mostly located on the arms, legs, and head. Afterwards, resting times vary based upon your preference, but usually last between 20-45 minutes. While resting, patients do what they do to relax, whether that is getting a needed nap, meditating, or just listening to music (you are welcome to bring your own iPod or MP3 player if you prefer to hear your own music).
Payment using the sliding scale is made at the beginning of your visit, so when you are finished with your treatment, you can leave maintaining your post-acupuncture “happy” state.
